If you didn’t already know that SMS marketing leads to consumer purchases, well here’s the proof. The following slide is from a webinar by eMarketer which highlights which mobile channels drive engagement and conversions for smartphone users.
The results come from a survey where they asked consumers who have completed a purchase as a direct result of some action taken on their smartphones. I was surprised to see email at the top of the list with an astounding 56% of smartphone owners saying they made a purchase because of an email they received. Take this slide with a grain of salt though as the study was done by an email marketing company (ExactTarget).
I love seeing SMS marketing coming in second, just behind email at 41% of smartphone owners saying they made a purchase because of a text message they received. Now that’s a great statistic for SMS marketing.
