Signal SMS Marketing Platform Acquired By BrightTag

Brighttag Acquires SignalHQ

SignalHQ, an SMS marketing platform, has been acquired by Chicago digital-marketing software company, BrightTag Inc. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but according to reports, Signal will be absorbed into BrightTag, which has about 100 employees, most of them in its Chicago, IL office.

BrightTag, which has received about $50 million in venture funding, develops software that allows website owners to manage tags, or bits of code from advertisers, ad placement networks and others that collect data on visitors to their sites. Brighttag has customers such as Orbitz Worldwide Inc., Allstate Corp. and Crate & Barrel, Yahoo Japan, Gap Inc., JetBlue Airways and Macy’s.

This is the second acquisition of note in the SMS marketing space, after last year CallFire acquired EzTexting. With the recent acquisition of SignalHQ by BrighTag, this leaves only a handful of independent SMS marketing platforms in the industry.
