Pretty cool use of text messaging alerts being used by The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). Now passengers can text “CTABUS”, plus the bus stop ID, a three-digit number advertised on each bus stop, to the short code 41411. In return, the bus rider will receive a text message alert with an estimated arrival time.
As you can see in the bus stop sign below, riders are able to text “CTABUS 548” to the short code 41411, in order to receive a text message alert with an estimated arrival time for that specific bus stop. Pretty cool use of SMS alerts huh?
