20% of Restaurant Customers Want Daily Text Message Specials

Buried within the National Restaurant Association’s 2012 Restaurant Industry Forecast, I found an interesting statistic regarding text messaging frequency. Within the report, it says that 30% of adults would like to receive an email with daily specials, with 20% preferring daily dials via text message.

While 20% is definitely not the majority, I find it interesting that 1 out of 5 people want to receive a text message every single day from a restaurant. Here at Tatango we usually recommend restaurants send 2-4 message per month. This study though suggests that maybe there is a need for two separate text messaging campaigns per restaurant. One for the customers that want daily text messages and one for the customers that want text messages a little less frequently.
