Short Codes Are Numbers Not Words

Just a friendly reminder, it’s never a good idea to translate the numbers in your SMS marketing short code into letters. As you can see in this Starbucks ad, they’ve displayed the short code 697289 as “MYSBUX”. The reason you don’t want to spell out your short code is that SMS marketing is already a new concept. By having customers text a word to a word, this sometimes can be very confusing, especially for newbies. Our advice, always use number when advertising your short code to avoid any confusion.
