The difference between Tatango and Nexmo is pretty much everything. The only thing that overlaps between Tatango and Nexmo is both platforms have the ability to send SMS messages. But the use case for both platforms is quite different, let’s examine those below.

What is Nexmo?

Nexmo provides a platform for developers to be able to build into existing software the ability to send SMS messages.

For example, if the app Uber wanted to enable the ability to send an SMS message to a customer when their Uber is around the corner, Uber developers would work with Nexmo as they provide the tools to build the text messaging functionality into its application. In order to work with Nexmo, you must have a developer. Nexmo is an ideal product for adding SMS messaging functionalities into existing software or application.

What is Tatango?

Tatango is an SMS marketing platform that is built for marketers. This solution is built for any brand that would like to run SMS marketing campaigns to promote their products or services, similar to an email automation tool. Tatango is not built for developers but for marketers that are trying to promote a product, service, or cause. Pictured below, is an example of how the jewelry brand Uncommon James utilizes Tatango to send MMS marketing messages.
