How Do You Run an SMS Campaign In the US and Canada?

Running an SMS campaign simultaneously in the US and in Canada is simple: just use the same short code. This makes things easier for the marketing department and lets you run the exact same ads in both the US and Canada.

OK, we lied. It’s not actually that simple. To use the same short code, you need to purchase two separate short codes—one for each country. Each country uses a different network, so you need to be able to access both networks for this to work. In other words, you’d have to purchase the short code “12345” in the US and then purchase the same code separately in Canada. Subscribers will never know the difference, and their opt-in message will follow the network they’re using. This makes it simple to run one short code with one key word to keep things aligned and easy.
