One of the biggest issues in mobile messaging is moving a short code from one software provider to another. There are many reasons why a brand would want to leave a software provider; perhaps the provider is going out of business, or the brand wants to upgrade to a better provider. Whatever the reason may be, a brand does have the option to migrate its short code to another software provider should they choose to.
The best and easiest way to migrate a short code is to find a software provider that uses the same SMS aggregator as your current one. When both software providers use the same SMS aggregator, the process is super simple. Unfortunately, if a brand would like to move to a provider that utilizes a different SMS aggregator, they would first have to migrate the short code to the new aggregator, and then they can move to the new SMS software provider. Moving to a new aggregator, and then to a new software provider, can be complex and time-consuming, so if you’re looking for a quick change, consider only the providers using your current SMS aggregator to help narrow your search.
