Tatango and Twilio both provide solutions for sending SMS, but otherwise, they are two very different companies.

What Is Twilio?

Twilio provides a messaging API that allows developers to build integrations using their messaging API.

For example, if the app DoorDash wanted to enable the ability to send an SMS message to a customer when their meal delivery is around the corner, DoorDash developers would work with Twilio, as Twilio provides the tools to build the text messaging functionality into its application. In order to work with Twilio, you must have a developer. Twilio is an ideal product for adding SMS messaging functionalities into existing software or applications.

What Is Tatango?

Tatango is an SMS marketing platform that is built for marketers. Tatango provides a solution for any brand that would like to launch SMS marketing campaigns to promote their products or services, similar to an email automation tool. Since Tatango’s software is built for marketers, brands can use Tatango’s text messaging without the need for external resources or developer knowledge. Pictured below is an example of how the jewelry brand Uncommon James utilizes Tatango to send MMS marketing messages.
