Platform Engineering Team Lead

The Platform Engineering Team Lead will oversee Tatango’s Platform Team which specializes in building and maintaining frameworks that empower Tatango’s 50+ software engineers. This individual will bring a DevOps culture to the organization focusing on continuous integration, automated delivery pipelines, monitoring, and IaC (infrastructure as code). This lead will also be responsible for running and guiding projects, growing the team, and overseeing standardization across the organization.  

What You’ll Do:

  • In collaboration with the CTO, implement engineering standards to effectively manage the productivity of engineering staff
  • Own all infrastructure activities including but not limited to our Amazon Ecosystem (Compute, Storage, Databases, Configuration Management)
  • Lead and Collaborate on building and supporting the vital infrastructure that allows Tatango engineers to code and deploy software with speed, ease, and confidence
  • Evangelize a DevOps culture
  • Participate and/or lead any architecture discussions
  • Support the development team and foster an environment centered around our values of continuous delivery, continuous integration, and speed.
  • Monitor and Measure our infrastructure
  • Define KPIs and support dashboards and democratize these throughout the rest of the organization
  • Measure and understand Developer Experience and Developer Productivity on our Platform to improve our ability to make frequent and high-quality deployments
  • Run Projects; Lead and report on Agile ceremonies, which includes, scheduling, risk management, communicating, and coordinating with other team members

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a Platform Engineering Team Lead
  • Strong cloud experience with AWS Services such as Compute, Storage and Orchestration 
  • Experience working with Cloud and Infrastructure Automation technologies such as Terraform and Amazon CDK
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner/Solutions Architect Certification
  • Experience moving non containerized services to container and orchestration workflows
  • Command of Agile and Scrum processes
  • Implementation of high performing CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of complex ETL or ELT systems that make use of database technologies such as ElasticSearch, Redis, Postgres, DynamoDB and/or dbt 
  • Familiarity with Data Warehousing solutions such as Redshift/Snowflake
  • Implemented security best practices across an organization
  • Has a fearlessness about taking on new challenges or technology
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and presentation skills
  • Takes ownership over responsibilities and is proactive/communicative about those duties. Also demonstrates high work ethic and commitment to individual and team excellence
  • Takes and gives feedback in a professional and constructive manner

Extra Credit:

  • Strong understanding of one of the following programming languages (JavaScript, Ruby, Python)
