Tide Grows SMS Marketing Database – 48,000

Tide recently launched a text messaging campaign to promote their new high efficient (HE) laundry detergent, by enticing consumers with the chance to win a year of Tide HE for free when they joined text messaging campaign. By joining the text messaging campaign, consumers would receive laundry tips, stain solutions, and special offers sent directly to their mobile phones via text message. The campaign has been extremely successful so far, generating over 48,000 new SMS subscribers.

As you can see from the screenshot above, consumers are prompted by Tide to enter the contest by selecting what type of washing machine they currently own, then submitting their mobile phone number, carrier (not sure why they need this though), and agreeing to the terms of use, then clicking the “Submit” button.

Once the consumer clicks the “Submit” button, they’re sent the following text message shortly thereafter confirming their participation in the text messaging campaign. In the confirmation text message, it tells consumers that they will receive tips, offers or promos every 2 weeks from Tide.

Because of the remarkable success of Tide’s text message campaign, the campaign has been extended three times with this most recent extension expiring March 20, 2014.
