Dollar General Launches Text Message Marketing campaign

Did you read how National Wholesale Liquidators was able to generate 50,000 opt-ins for their retail SMS marketing campaign? Not to be outshined, Dollar General has recently launched their own text message marketing campaign.

You can sign up to receive Dollar General mobile alerts on their website here, or by texting “SAVE” to the vanity short code 34898, which spells “DGTXT” on your mobile dial pad. You can see what their website opt-in form looks like below.

After website visitors submit their mobile phone number, in addition to some other information such as their first name, last name and zip code, they see the following website page, informing them that they’re almost done, and that a confirmation text message is on its way.

Dollar General Confirmation on its way

Below is the text message received by Dollar General customers asking them to respond “DG” to confirm their enrollment in the Dollar General Mobile Alerts program. This is what we call a double opt-in in text message marketing.
