Consumers Prefer SMS Over Social Media Offers

Can’t decide between sending customers special offers from your brand via social media or text messaging? While we’re a little bias here at Tatango, why don’t we ask your customers? Our good friends at MessageSystems did just that, by conducting a survey through Google Consumer Surveys, where they polled 500 adult internet users to figure out what marketing channels they prefer when it comes to receiving special offers from brands they like.

So when it comes to consumer preference, on which marketing channel (text message marketing or social media marketing) do customers prefer to receive special offers such as coupons or deals from your brand? Based on MessageSystems survey, 9.03% of consumers want to receive special offers from brands through text message marketing, where only 5.29% want to receive those offers through social media.

Best of both worlds… Why not do both? Send text messages to those customers that prefer to receive their coupons via text message, and for those customers that like to receive them via social media, send them there as well.

While you’re at it, make sure not to forget sending coupons to customers via email marketing, direct mail, and even through your mobile app with in-app push notifications. Sounds like you’re going to be a busy marketer for a while…
