Lookout a mobile security vendor came out with a recent study that found 61% of Americans have one or more inactive cellphones in their household which adds up to around $160 worth of old phones.
“We were surprised to learn how many people hold on to old phones,” Lookout mobile safety advocate Jenny Roy said in a statement. “People are concerned about the personal information living on the device, and we suspect it contributes to why people are still holding on to it.” The reasons why people hold on to their inactive mobile phones range from not knowing what to do with it, to not getting around to erasing their data yet.
