80% of 18-34 Year Olds Buying Smartphones

We’ve all heard that smartphone penetration in the United States has been hovering around 50% for a while now. Recently though, Nielsen came out with an interesting study about the buying habits of consumers 18-34 years old. When it comes to new mobile phone devices, 8 out of 10 of these consumers are buying smartphones. That’s 80% if you’re bad at math.

Not far behind is consumers 35-44, with 74% of new mobile phone device purchases being smartphones.
