Top Ten Ways to Amplify Your Organization

8th April 2010 - Posted by Sarah Magill in category Misc

1) Know your primary market and market towards them. Google offers oodles of free tools and services that allow you to manage and operate you business at maximum efficiency. Google Analytics, for example, allows a company or organization to view the number of visits to their website. Find the state or city where your primary members live and how to pair keywords and ads to attract maximum attention.Google Web-Optimizer lets you experiment with what types of images and features attract the most traffic. This service is amazing!
2) Social Networking. This new transparency element allows you to gain more recognition for well conducted ventures and criticism for past mistakes. Mintel, an International Market Research Reports & Analysis Company, says 61% of internet users have a profile on at least one social networking site, up from 41% the year before. See what people are saying about your organization on Bebo, Twitter, Xanga and Facebook.

3) Host a fund raising activity for charity. Some organizations give a percentage of their net income to a specific charity. This will give you both some advertising and allow you to work together, thus doubling your perspective audience and cutting costs for both organizations.

4) Reach out to reporters and writers. Again, understand your demographics and focus on capturing press where it can be found. Also, do not let your competition hog the spotlight. Even if you can make it in their articles, it is better than receiving no press at all. Announcing a press release never hurts, either.

5) Market through many different outlets. Pay to have an ad installed in the phone book, newspapers, radio, television and email. Mailchimp.com is an email marketing site that makes it easy to send newsletters to members, manage subscriber’s lists and track campaign performance.

6) SMS. Three short words; short message service, more commonly known as texting. The hands-down most powerful marketing tool is this type of advertising. (We are a little bias though)

7) Attend a networking event. You may think it more beneficial to talk to as many people as possible. Instead, try building a relationship by having an honest conversation and first recommending a service to whom you are speaking.

8) Use every outgoing piece of paper and electronic document as an advertisement. Stamps.com can save you money on postage and has several other features that make this chore even easier. In addition, Postage.com provides you a service where you can print USPS approved stamps from your computer. You save time and you can even create custom stamps that feature your affiliations’ logo. Even the mail man will have heard of you within a few weeks of making this simple change.

9) Organize a seminar. By giving advice or teaching someone a valuable lesson, they are more likely to think of your organization in the future. If you are scared stiff by public speaking, Toastmasters.org is a helpful website that can transform your weakness into your strength.
10) Reward current members. Trendwatching.com has a section of its website devoted to showing groups how to cater to their specific demographic. You can also compensate participants by creating a rewards program.   Happy members are repeat members. Like I said before, word-of-mouth advertising is free and it goes a long way.
