Last week eMarketer put out some dramatic numbers to support the claim that americans are rapidly adopting mobile coupons. This year, nearly one in five smartphone owners ages 18 and older will redeem a mobile coupon, such as one received by SMS, representing growth of 117.6%. Even non-smartphone owners are using mobile coupons with 19.8 million adults, or 9.5% talking out their mobile phone to save.
Next year, the number of US consumers who redeem mobile coupons on their smartphone will surpass 25% and by 2013 you should see almost one-third redeeming discounts on their mobile phones.
