Have you ever had a mobile phone number in your text message campaign, where every time you send them a text message, the message bounces? Why does this happen? If a text message bounces once and awhile to a subscriber, it’s usually not an issue, as this most likely means the subscriber is out of range of their wireless network, or maybe they don’t have any text messaging credits left on their current billing cycle.

With text messages only being 160 characters, it’s essential that if you’re trying to link to something in a text message, you use a link shortener. A link shortener will take a long URL like http://www.bonobos.com/slim-dark-grey-lambswool-sweater-for-men, which will take up 63 characters in a text message, and will transform it into something much more manageable like bit.ly/188lICE, which only takes up 14 characters.

Have you ever wanted to collect information from a new mobile subscriber, such as their zip code, email address, first name, birth date, or even a simple “Y” or “YES”? Are you concerned though that by asking a subscriber for information during the opt-in process will result in some subscribers not completing the opt-in process, resulting in loosing a new subscriber?

Have you ever had this happen? You have a customer that swears that they’ve opted-in to your SMS marketing campaign, but they aren’t receiving your messages. After further due diligence, you realize that the customer texted the wrong keyword to the SMS short code you’re using. Now sometimes this just can’t be avoided if the customer texts “APPLE” instead of “PEAR”, but what about if the customer texted “APLE” instead of “APPLE”. Can this missed connection be avoid?

Have you ever thought it would be really useful to collect information about your mobile subscribers during the opt-in process? Maybe a zip code so that you can send location based mobile marketing messages, or maybe a subscriber’s name so that you can make each mass text message more personal? If so, you’ll be happy to know that we also thought this would be really useful, and is why we’re announcing that double opt-in SMS campaigns are now supported by Tatango.
Sorry. No data so far.
